Navigator Program
Learning Compass presents a cutting-edge professional development program called, the Navigator Program for Educators, creatively designed for educators that desire to become quality trainers for their district’s goals and initiatives. This approach is in response to a national focus on developing a culture of best practices through professional development within our own schools and organizations.
According to Guskey (1997), staff development principles should: 1)have a clear focus on learning and learners, 2)focus on both individual and organizational change, 3)make small changes guided by grand vision, and 4)provide ongoing professional development that is procedurally embedded.
In order to improve student achievement, trainers should have a high understanding of their own population. Who better to determine what is necessary than teachers and experts within the district?
This concentrated program is designed to train trainers from a quality teacher base within a school or district. Participants must be recommended and agree to a commitment of completing the program in its entirety and providing training for their school, department, and/or district in areas they feel most appropriate.
Participants will interact and engage in the new, research-based model of COMPASS for creating meaningful professional development for all adult learners. They will leave with a completed personal presentation to deliver to colleagues in their district, a certificate as a Navigator, and receive a mentor to assist them on their new journey.
